Guided Kayak excursion in the canyon of Mont-rebei - Corçà
Come and discover the Mont-rebei canyon by doing a guided Kayak excursion!
The canyon of Mont-Rebei includes the natural space through which the river Noguera Ribagorçana passes through the Montsec mountain range. The canyon separates Montsec d'Ares (Catalonia) from Montsec de l'Estall (Aragon) and is the only great virgin canyon in Catalonia, since it is only crossed by a narrow bridle path partially excavated in the rock (1982) that follows the riverbed. The calcareous walls of the canyon reach 500 m in height and in some points of the river the width is only 20 m.
The canyon is a natural reserve where you could observe millinary holm oaks and animals such as lammergeyer, the vultures or the otters among others.
The route will start at the pier of the Canelles dam and you will head north to enter the canyon of Mont-Rebei, where the walls will narrow bit by bit. You will pass under the hermitages of the Pertusa and Santa Creiteria. Afterwards, you will reach the narrowest and most spectacular part of the defile, where you will make a stop before starting the return route.
The route has a length of 14 km that are carried out in approximately 4h (without counting stops). The difficulty of the activity is low-medium.
Enjoy a guided kayak ride in the middle of the walls of the Mont-rebei canyon!
